Stantec Finance Business Partner - Fixed Term Contract in Warrington, United Kingdom

We have an opportunity for a Finance Business Partner to take up a Fixed Term Contract with Stantec in our Warrington office. The Fixed Term Contract will cover a colleagues' maternity leave and, with handover periods, is expected to last for between 14 and 16 months. The position can be offered on a full-time or part-time (3 or 4 days per week) basis.

The role of Finance Business Partner is a key position for us as we look to implement our exciting growth plans across the UK & Ireland. This particular Business Partner role is within our Water Sector team - a sector that is growing rapidly and where our teams can make a real impact on the environment and on our communities.

Reporting to the Head of Commercial Finance, you will work closely with Water sector business line. The primary purpose of the role is to support the UK business in actively managing project portfolio performance, growth, budgeting, and forecasting.

This role involves financial oversight and analysis for project portfolios. You'll work with various teams to manage project finances, including forecasting, reviewing performance, and preparing reports. This includes collaborating with project managers and accountants to identify financial risks and opportunities for improvement. You'll also ensure adherence to financial reporting standards and controls.

There's a strong emphasis on collaboration across the organisation. You'll work with commercial, operational, and accounting teams to support financial planning, budgeting, and cost management. This includes a focus on continuous improvement and streamlining processes, such as integrating financial activities with our colleagues in Pune, India.

Other key priorities will include ensuring that the business operates in a way that is compliant with Stantec’s accounting policies – in particular IFRS 15 and Stantec’s revenue recognition policies.You will advise the business on how to establish and sustain business models in ways that are efficient, effective, and compliant.

About You

You will ideally be a qualified, or part qualified accountant (CIMA, ACCA or equivalent) who has experience improving controls, processes, and procedures in hands on, roll up your sleeves manner. You will have a successful track record of working in a similar large corporate environment.

You will be an operationally and commercially minded individual with experience in a professional services environment. You will have the ability to clearly present quantitative information to management and effectively interact and communicate, both verbally and in writing, with a diverse workforce.

Good leadership skills, and ability to communicate clearly at different levels of the business are essential. You will also have a good understanding of IFRS.

You will be strategic, change orientated, innovative, always seeking to improve. You will enjoy a dynamic and fast paced environment, working with high energy and resilience.

The role is offered as a Fixed Term Contract but given Stantec's growth aspirations it might be that permanent opportunities are available if that is something that is of interest.
