Microsoft Corporation Technical Program Management in Washington D.C., District Of Columbia

The Infrastructure Planning and Acquisition (IPA) organization is seeking a Technical Program Manager to join the Network Infrastructure Supply Planning team. This role is responsible for analyzing the global consumption of network infrastructure at a site and region level and creating supply signals to trigger additional network infrastructure which may include Data Center Co-Lo space and power, Edge requirements, campus fiber, metro fiber, WAN fiber / services and more. In addition, this person will support Network Long Range Plan financial reporting for planned project costs, will drive S&OP signaling content / justifications (approvals process), and the overall Network Supply Plan reporting communications for select Azure existing or new regions in Americas (AMERS). Additional responsibilities include engaging as a stakeholder / thought lead on various tooling and automation efforts, heavy cross team collaboration and cooperation on a variety of topics such as: hardware refresh or new hardware planning, new site evaluations, the application of next generation networking standards to scale regions and in general endeavors to ensure network elements are not a blocker to Azure Regional Growth organic or new.

This role will focus on:

  • Combining the short-term demand signals with the long-range strategic network infrastructure plans to create a holistic network infrastructure supply plan

  • Creating long range network planning reports that pull together all the various Global Network and Region Infrastructure plans and quantifying the costs in both terms of capital expenditure and cost of goods sold.

  • Partner with master planning, finance, Azure engineering, and hardware/site services acquisition teams to drive strategic network analysis and executive decisions

  • Represent and coordinate National Industrial Security Program (NISP) business requirements to initiate or improve system automation in support of the network infrastructure strategic initiatives.

Responsibilities

  • Own network infrastructure consumption rates based on a projected demand plan across several layers of the network for select Azure Regions

  • Generate network investment, risk avoidance and supply plans to mitigate known future supply gaps, or required transformation plans as revealed by applying consumption projections to the current and future capability of the network.

  • Maintain network supply plans for existing regions, generate new supply plans for new regions

  • Team wide communications with stakeholders on progress

  • Drive complex ambiguous cross-functional projects and processes

Qualifications

Required Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 4+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 2+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

Other Requirements:

Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and/or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings:

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check: This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud background check upon hire/transfer and every two years thereafter.

Preferred Qualification:

  • Bachelor's Degree AND 8+ years experience in engineering, product/technical program management, data analysis, or product development

  • OR equivalent experience.

  • 6+ years experience managing cross-functional and/or cross-team projects.

  • 1+ year(s) experience reading and/or writing code (e.g., sample documentation, product demos).

Technical Program Management IC4 - The typical base pay range for this role across the U.S. is USD $117,200 - $229,200 per year. There is a different range applicable to specific work locations, within the San Francisco Bay area and New York City metropolitan area, and the base pay range for this role in those locations is USD $153,600 - $250,200 per year.
