As a Cashier, you will: Collect cash, meal tickets and accurately makes change for customers as needed. Handle transactions responsibly and professionally, never leaving cash register unattended. Maintains custody of keys and daily change fund. Provide prompt, pleasant, courteous and respectful service to customers while controlling traffic. Reconcile cash accurately. Prepares daily cash receipt reports precisely, accounting for all transactions. Set up and maintain coffee station, and stocks beverages. Assist in setting up food service register counters prior to serving meals. Communicate problems/issues to Supervisor and assist in problem resolution. Maintain a clutter free, clean and orderly work area. Accurately prepare and posts menus on boards prior to each meal. Stocks condiments, flatware, napkin holders and assists in restocking throughout meal service. Assume other duties and responsibilities that are related and appropriate to the position and area. Promote adherence to the Health Sciences Compliance Program, the Howard University Code of Ethics and the Health Sciences Standards of Conduct. Attend annual and periodic mandatory Compliance Program training including the Health Insurance Portability and Accountability Act (HIPAA) Privacy training. Participate in activities that promote adherence to federal healthcare program requirements. Actively participate in Health Sciences Compliance Program activities Adhere to the requirements of the HIPAA Privacy Policies and Procedures. Maintain confidentiality of patients, families, and staff. Familiarity with food service environment. Knowledge of Hospital’s food, safety and sanitation policies and procedures. Familiarity with cash and electronic payment transactions. Ability to effectively operate a cash register. Ability to respond to customers in prompt, courteous and pleasant manner. Strong attention to detail with the ability to follow direction closely. Excellent organizational with an ability to successfully balance multiple tasks. Exceptional customer service and interpersonal skills. Basic mathematical and computing skills. Capable of performing basic accounting functions without errors. Qualified Candidate possess: High School Diploma or G.E.D. Two (2) years of work experience as a cashier, preferably in a food services environment.
