Electrical Apprentice

JOB DESCRIPTION

Summary:

The Electrical Apprentice will work alongside Electrical Journeyman building basic electrical skills and learning electrical concepts.

Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Measure, cut, and bend wire and conduit, using measuring instruments and hand tools,
  • Thread conduit ends, connect couplings, and fabricate and secure conduit support brackets, using hand tools,
  • Examine electrical units for loose connections and broken insulation and tighten connections, using hand tools,
  • Dig trenches or holes for installation of conduit or supports,
  • Strip insulation from wire ends, using wire stripping pliers, and attach wires to terminals for subsequent soldering,
  • Responsible for assembly, installation, maintenance and testing of electrical equipment and wiring systems in commercial settings,
  • Prepares work area for installation of electrical components,
  • Connects wiring and equipment as per code and job specification,
  • Be able to read blueprints and electrical drawings and install components as shown,
  • Verify dimensions, alignments and clearances per drawings or plans,

``` - Must wear proper attire at all times including: safety vests, safety glasses when appropriate, long pants, hard sole/close-toed shoes, and reflect a clean and presentable image,

``` - May be required to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends, - Additional duties as assigned.

Job Requirements:

  • Must be at least 18 years old,
  • High school diploma or equivalency desired,
  • 1+ years experience in the electrical field
  • Practical experience working with electrical systems and equipment,
  • Ability to read technical manuals, blueprints, and schematics,
  • Strong analytical, troubleshooting, and problem-solving skills,
  • Must have a positive attitude and work ethic,

Working Conditions:

  • This job may require you to work extended hours including evenings, nights, and weekends.

``` - This job requires the ability to lift, pull, and push a minimum of 50 lbs., bend, stoop, kneel, reach, squat, and twist. In addition, you must have the ability to be on your feet regularly and use hands, arms, and legs repeatedly on the job. This includes frequently walking on sloped ground and slippery and uneven surfaces. - This job requires the ability to stand for extended periods of time. - This job requires the ability to see, whether naturally or with vision correction tools (glasses, contacts). - This job requires the ability to perform essential job tasks in less than favorable job conditions. These may include, but are not limited to: Performing strenuous work in varying temperatures, humidity, wind, or other extreme inclement weather conditions for extended periods of time. - Work may be performed in an environment with exposure to extremely hot materials, fuel, fumes, vapors, dust, grease and oils, as well as loud and/or constant noise and exposure to moving equipment.
