Job Description:

The Senior Accountant is responsible for managing and performing the activities necessary to ensure the timely and accurate processing of the ABA payroll on a semi-monthly and occasional out-of-cycle basis, as well as quarterly and year-end payroll tasks. This includes managing all payroll data received from Human Resources and making necessary corrections in the Workday system. In addition to the payroll functions, this position manages the Business Assets of the Association, performs complex account reconciliations, and prepares work papers and financial statements for the Thrift Plan audit.

The position is also responsible for performing all financial operations activities related to fTLD Registry Services to ensure the proper recording of all transactions on the accrual basis. The Senior accountant will also produce monthly financial statements, assist with annual budget creation and forecasting as needed, as well as prepare all audit schedules.

Key Duties:

Payroll Responsibilities:

Administer the payroll function for the Association on a semi-monthly basis, including the timely payment to employees of wages:

  • Ensure compliance with Federal and state reporting requirements

  • Conduct remittance of all voluntary and required withholdings

  • Verify the transmitted semi-monthly direct deposit file to bank and the tax file to Ceridian

  • Accurate general ledger recording of all payroll-related activities

  • Update various annual schedules in Workday and complete quarterly and year-end payroll tasks

• Maintain updated knowledge of federal, state, and local payroll regulations to ensure compliance with payroll processing.

• Monitor new developments in the payroll, payroll tax benefit, leave, and other related areas, assess their impact on ABA, and make recommendations for change in procedures, processes, etc.

• Prepare payroll audit information for external auditors as needed.

• Prepare reports for outside agencies as needed, e.g. Department of Labor, WC audits, etc.

• Prepare schedules, audit work papers, and financial statements for the ABA Thrift Plan audit.

• Provide excellent customer service by researching and responding to customer inquiries/problems related to Payroll within 24 hours and correct errors in a timely, efficient manner.

• Partner with HR department to obtain all payroll-related information, resolve discrepancies, and adjust in Workday promptly.

Other:

• Record financial operations for the fTLD entity including, but not limited to, modifying and importing monthly GoDaddy transaction reports into the accounting system (PCFAS or Nimble); determining monthly revenue recognition; creating accrual basis expense entries; preparing monthly financial statements; updating annual forecast based on trend analysis of year-to-date-actuals; assisting in the creation of the annual budget, and preparing all audit schedules. Collaborates with fTLD management for these responsibilities.

• Track the purchases/additions and disposal of fixed assets to the various G/L accounts. Analyze all additions into the Business Assets module of Workday, accept or reject, and apply appropriate life and method. Prepare the DC Personal Property tax returns.

• Prepare monthly account reconciliations and other accounting tasks as assigned.

• Other duties as assigned by business needs.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or related field required.

  • 7+ years of experience working with payroll, experience running payroll across multiple states preferred.

  • General Ledger experience preferred.

  • Strong understanding of payroll, payroll tax reporting/filing requirements, tax rules, etc. at the state and local level.

  • Ability to work with various accounting, payroll & timekeeping systems.

  • Understanding GAAP principles and financial reporting.

  • Ability to handle confidential information.

  • Exceptional attention to detail.

  • Ability to effectively handle multiple priorities, while maintaining an organized workload and meeting deadlines.

  • Ability to work well within teams as well as independently.

  • Workday experience preferred.

  • Ability to travel (<20%).

Target Pay Range:

$112,000 - $122,000

Salary Band Range:

$81,848.00 - $108,470.00 - $135,093.00
