Senior Staff Accountant
Job Description
We are seeking a highly skilled and experienced Senior Staff Accountant to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will be responsible for managing various accounting functions, including sales and use tax assessments, fixed asset management, and tax reporting. The ideal candidate will possess strong analytical skills, excellent communication abilities, and a thorough understanding of accounting principles.
Responsibilities
Review invoices received from vendors to determine if taxes should have been paid and self-assess the tax.
File tax returns online for purchases in various states, including NC, FL, OK, and IL.
Manage fixed assets, including monthly depreciation, journal entries, and decisions on capitalization.
Ensure compliance with company policy that requires the capitalization of items over a certain dollar amount.
Handle tax reporting for property taxes on equipment, including annual returns for additions and disposals.
Potential involvement in lease accounting, depending on the candidate's knowledge and willingness to learn.
Assist with the migration to SAP and adapt to changes in legal entities and business processes.

At least 1 year of experience in an Accountant role
Knowledge of fixed assets and sales/use tax processes
Ability to make decisions on capitalization and tax assessments
Familiarity with ERP systems, preferably SAP
Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
Excellent communication and teamwork abilities
Work Environment
Hybrid - 2 days remote, 3 days in office in Washington, NC. Open to candidates sitting out of Louisville, KY as well. Potentially flexible for Raleigh candidates. Standard office hours are 8 AM to 5 PM. Works closely with an Assistant, 1 Senior Accountant, 1 Staff Accountant, and 1 Accounts Receivable specialist.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $40.86 - $43.26/hr.
