Job Summary: Directly supervise and manage the daily operations of Health Information Management activities including, but not limited to; Release of Information, Analysis, Physician Suspension, Duplicate Medical Records, Prepping and Scanning using OnBase, My Chart Enrollment, and Chart Correction. Will be responsible for monitoring, trend and tracking staff’s productivity and quality in all aspect of HIM.
This position is full time Monday - Friday. Employees are required to have flexibility to work any of our 8-hour shift schedules during our normal business hours of 8:00 am – 5:00 pm. It may be necessary, given the business need, to work occasional overtime. Our office is located at Riverwood Dr Waukesha, WI 53188
We offer 4 weeks of on-the-job training. The hours of the training will be aligned with your schedule.
Primary Responsibilities:
Supervises the efficient function of the HIM department and assigned associates.
Manages daily departmental operations to achieve goals.
Adjusts staffing and assignments according to work volumes.
Anticipates backlogs or difficulties that can occur and develops action plan or takes appropriate action to address situation.
Monitors quality and productivity to ensure achievement of goals throughout the department.
Provides on-going education, training, and development to HIM operations staff.
Maintains turnaround and quality expectations, and provides excellent customer service.
Identifies improvements in system processes required to ensure compliance with regulations.
Collaborates and works with hospital & clinic departments to promote efficient and effective services.
Assists in various jobs as needed to maintain HIM workflow and meet goals.
Supports the efficient function of the HIM department.
Assists the director in determining staffing needs, work methods, and performance standards to provide excellent customer service.
Acts as the HIM departmental resource in the absence of the Director.
Manages staff to ensure department and organizational policies and procedures are maintained, productivity and quality levels are met, and best practice turnaround times are achieved.
Maintains updated productivity, quality, and work performance reports and logs, associate progress records.
Provides ongoing guidance and leadership to HIM associates.
Counsels and assists associates not meeting productivity and quality standards.
Ensures relevant, current, and accessible educational and resource materials are available to staff and encourages staff to utilize resource materials.
Develops and maintains quality control standards and ensures accuracy of work performed.
Communicates and implements changes in goals of department and organization in a timely manner
Performs Human Resources functions.
Conducts mid-year and annual employee evaluations on all assigned associates according to established timeframes and with all required documentation.
Provides on-going feedback and coaching on job performance, competencies, values-based behaviors and developmental needs.
Initiates coaching, counseling, and disciplinary action in a timely, supportive manner according to human resource policies.
Ensures accurate timekeeping and completes payroll process.
Directly supervises the performance of assigned associates including interviewing hiring, firing, and disciplining.
Assures appropriate administration of Human Resources policies and procedures.
Maintains professionalism, growth, and development.
Keeps current and informed on new developments pertaining to Health Information Management, Release of Information, Joint Commission, laws and regulatory standards, and Medical Staff Rules and Regulations.
Maintains knowledge of HIM functions to ensure competencies for staff and self.
Demonstrates an understanding of policies and procedures to contribute to the efficiency of the HIM department.
Participates in continuing education activities.
Applies new information, changes in procedure, and feedback as relayed by leaders.
Personally models professional confidentiality and discretion in all communications and exchanges of information.
Ensures that policies and procedures of ProHealth Care regarding corporate compliance and privacy of patient and associate information are observed

Required Qualifications
High School Diploma/GED
Must be 18 years or older
1+ year of supervisor or team lead experience
1+ year of Health Information Management (HIM) experience
Experience with Microsoft Word (create correspondence and work within templates), and Microsoft Outlook (email and calendar management)
Ability to work full time onsite at N17W24100 Riverwood Dr Waukesha, WI 53188

Preferred Qualifications
Experience working with EPIC
Experience working with Onbase
Experience Microsoft Excel (data entry, sort / filter, and work within tables)
Soft Skills
Excellent communication skills both written and verbal.

The salary range for this role is $49,300 to $96,400 annually based on full-time employment. Pay is based on several factors including but not limited to local labor markets, education, work experience, certifications, etc. UnitedHealth Group complies with all minimum wage laws as applicable.
