Generac Power Systems Reliability Engineer II in Waukesha, Wisconsin

Primary Purpose

The Reliability Engineer II will be directly involved in the design and evaluation of Generac Power Systems Industrial products. This engineer will be responsible for creating and monitoring the validation plan for these products. This person is expected to drive component and system level analysis and testing to evaluate design robustness and reliability. This role will be responsible for evaluating product failure modes and utilizing engineering experience to develop design solutions and processes for eliminating potential failures.

Major Responsibilities

  • Drive cross functional teams to achieve Generac’s high product performance and reliability standards throughout the Generac Development Process (GDP).

  • Evaluate product failure modes and utilize engineering experience and training to develop solutions for eliminating/mitigating potential failure modes

  • Facilitate the DFMEA and design review process to develop strong validation plans that assure customer and design functional requirements have been met

  • Advise and confer with engineers in design review meetings to give reliability findings and design recommendations

  • Review engineering specifications/drawings and propose design modifications to improve reliability within cost and other performance requirements

  • Monitor product performance and evaluate product history and failure trends to determine sources of poor component performance

  • Gain a deep understanding of the operating environment and performance requirements for our products.

  • Create detailed reports (DVPR) documenting all findings and conclusions.

  • Support root cause analysis and resolution of issues found during testing and on returned products from the field

Minimum Job Requirements

Education

Bachelor of Science in Reliability Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering or related discipline;

Certification / License

Work Experience

5+ years of Reliability Engineering Experience

Knowledge / Skills / Abilities

Knowledge and experience component testing electrical and mechanical systems for reliability.

Experience with failure modes and failure mechanisms with respect to reliability.

Very good understanding of relevant test standards.

Ability to apply engineering knowledge and experience to improve products, services, and processes.

Ability to understand, explain, and solve complex engineering problems.

Statistical analysis knowledge to assess reliability risk based on design and application.

Excellent oral and written communication.

Strong decision-making skills.
