Job Description

Thermo Fisher Scientific Inc. is seeking a highly motivated and skilled individual to join our team as a Lead Material Handler. In this role, you will be responsible for overseeing and coordinating the activities of a team of material handlers in a warehouse environment. Your primary role is to ensure the efficient and accurate movement of materials within the facility to support internal and external customer demands. To excel in this role, a Lead Material Handler should possess strong organizational and leadership skills. They should have a thorough understanding of warehouse operations and be familiar with various material handling equipment and techniques. Additionally, attention to detail, problem-solving abilities, and the ability to work well under pressure are important qualities for this position.

Responsibilities:

  • Performs all tasks associated with Shipping, Receiving and material movements.

  • Assigning tasks and responsibilities to the team members, monitoring their work progress, and providing guidance and support as needed.

  • Allocating labor as needed to ensure completion of all daily tasks.

  • Coordinate with internal departments such as the Order Desk, Production or Central Operations, to determine critical needs and prioritize workflow accordingly.

  • Provide required international documents to ensure compliance with customs regulations.

  • Collaborating with the warehouse manager or supervisor to develop and implement process improvements to enhance productivity and efficiency.

  • Maintain inventory of needed packaging materials and place orders in a timely manner to prevent interruptions to business

  • Adhering to all company policies and procedures, including those related to safety, quality, and security.

  • Ability to perform as a back-up to the Warehouse Manager/Supervisor and run the entire Warehouse operation without any interruption to the business.

Requirements:

  • High School Diploma/GED

  • Tried experience in a distribution or shipping role, with a focus on accuracy and attention to detail

  • Exceptional organizational and time management skills

  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in a fast-paced environment

  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to effectively collaborate with team members and other internal departments involved in daily workflow.

  • Ability to complete tasks on time and meet strict deadlines

This position is located in West Hills, CA, United States. The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $21.76 to $32.63 . Compensation and Benefits

The hourly pay range estimated for this position based in California is $21.76–$32.63.
