Job Title: GIS Analyst

Location(s): Westminster, CO

Status: Full-Time

FLSA: Exempt

Hiring Range: $61,000.00 - $72,000.00/yr. ( The anticipated starting salary is based on the posted minimum requirements for this position. The offered salary will be based upon the selected applicant’s education, training, and experience.)

RSI is recruiting for a GIS Analyst who willperform a broad range of geospatial related tasks in support of the Department of Energy’s Office of Legacy Management (DOE LM) organization and programs. Produces geospatial products, performs data management, and performs data quality assurance.

This position is required to travel less than 5% of the time.

Essential Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Produce quality data layers, maps, tables, and reports, using spatial analysis procedures or Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology, equipment, and systems.

  • Design and prepare graphic representations of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data, using GIS hardware or software applications.

  • Build geospatial databases from imagery, lidar, CAD, and other cartographic/digital sources; support the development of GIS database designs.

  • Perform computer programming, data analysis, or software development for Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications, including the maintenance of existing systems or research and development for future enhancements.

  • Provide technical expertise in Geographic Information Systems (GIS) technology to clients or users.

  • Enter data into Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases, using techniques such as coordinate geometry, keyboard entry of tabular data, manual digitizing of maps, or conversion of other sources of digital data.

  • Review existing or incoming data for currency, accuracy, usefulness, quality, and completeness of documentation.

  • Perform geospatial data building, modeling, and analysis, using advanced spatial analysis, data manipulation, or cartography software.

  • Perform integrated or computerized Geographic Information Systems (GIS) analyses to address scientific problems.

  • Select cartographic elements needed for effective presentation of information.

  • Provide technical support to users or clients regarding the maintenance, development, or operation of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases, equipment, or applications.

  • Collect, compile, interpret, and integrate Geographic Information Systems (GIS) data, such as remote sensing, aerial imagery, or cartographic data for inclusion in mapping documents.

  • Meet with clients to discuss topics such as technical specifications, customized solutions, and operational problems.

  • Test Geographic Information Systems (GIS) models, internet mapping solutions, or other applications.

  • Create, analyze, report, convert, or transfer data, using specialized applications program software.

  • Confer with users to analyze, configure, or troubleshoot applications.

  • Assist in the design, program, or model of Geographic Information Systems (GIS) applications and procedures.

  • Assist in development of specialized computer software routines, internet-based Geographic Information Systems (GIS) databases, or business applications to customize geographic information.

  • Assist with recommendations regarding upgrades, considering implications of new or revised Geographic Information Systems (GIS) software, equipment, or applications.

  • Create visual representations of geospatial data, using complex procedures such as analytical modeling, three-dimensional renderings, and plot creation.

  • Assist with preparation of training materials and making presentations to Geographic Information Systems (GIS) users.

  • Collaborate with personnel concerning revisions to maps and geospatial data.

  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Education and Years of Relevant Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in computer science, geography, environmental science, geology, or related field with demonstrated GIS training or coursework.

  • Minimum of 5 years’ relevant experience.

Required S kills and Abilities :

  • Advanced experience with Esri’s ArcGIS Desktop and Pro software with cartography, data editing, data management, and data organization.

  • Knowledge of the principles and practices of a Geographic Information System including relational database fundamentals and concepts for performing data collection, processing, analysis, and modeling.

  • Ability to create quality maps and other data visualization and analysis using data from multiple platforms.

  • Experience with managing vector and raster data sets in an enterprise GIS environment. Understanding of geographic data sources available through local, county, state, or federal agencies.

  • Understanding of spatial/tabular data collection, organization, management, and processing. Ability to write procedures and document business processes.

  • Strong team skills with ability to work independently and take direction.

  • Ability to proactively manage time to meet schedules with excellent organizational skills.

  • Demonstrated ability to effectively communicate and collaborate with peers, clients, and share ideas of complex matters, both verbally and in writing.

  • Attention to technical details associated with geospatial data.

  • Experience working with geospatial data in collaboration with multiple, potentially conflicting, customer requirements.

  • Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office applications.

Licenses and Certifications:

  • Valid Driver’s License

Desired Skills and Abilities :

  • Experience with AutoCAD software and knowledge of Civil 3D (2020 or higher).

  • Experience with ArcGIS Enterprise and ArcGIS Online.

  • Experience with mobile field data collection including ArcGIS Field Maps.

  • Experience with Python scripting language.

  • Working knowledge of survey practices including georeferencing with grid and ground coordinate systems.

Essential Physical Requirements:

Sedentary: Work involves exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally or a negligible amount of force frequently to lift, carry, push, pull, or otherwise move objects, including the human body. Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs may be defined as sedentary when walking and standing are required only occasionally, and all other sedentary criteria are met.
