The Maintenance Supervisor is seeking an energic individual to fill the Custodian position.  The Custodian staff consists of two employees who work from 3:00 pm to 12:00 am.  These positions are responsible to maintain a clean work environment for County staff and the general public.  Janitorial duties include working within numerous buildings on the County's campus.  All that said, the ideal candidate will be focused on cleaning, diligent to follow safety guidelines, ability to work independently, and have the ability to travel between buildings while pushing a janitorial/utility cart.

Examples of Duties

 

  • Under the direction of the Maintenance Supervisor, responsible for maintaining a clean work environment for staff and visitors.
  • Regularly performs all janitorial operations in numerous County owned and operated buildings. Cleans buildings by emptying trash, sweeping, mopping, vacuuming, dusting, and cleaning surfaces.
  • Regularly cleans and disinfects sinks, faucets, urinals, stools, and other fixtures in restrooms. Restocks all restrooms with towels, tissue, and soap as needed.
  • Cleans and disinfects windows, doors, and glass partitions.
  • Moves cabinets, boxes, furniture, and equipment as needed to vacuum and clean areas. May remove stains from such surfaces as rugs, drapes, walls, and floors using chemicals and cleaning solutions.
  • Mops, strips, and waxes floors on a routine basis.
  • Empties trash and removes debris from individual offices and open office areas weekly or as needed. Empties trash from public areas as needed.
  • Ensures proper use and storage of chemical cleaning products.
  • Conducts safety checks to ensure all doors and windows are locked and building is secure before departure.
  • On a routine basis dusts walls, ceilings, air vents, and light fixtures.
  • Performs all other duties required as assigned by the Maintenance Supervisor.
