Your Impact:

Our Defence and Security provide design and engineering services for our nuclear and defence clients across the UK and abroad. Our team is experiencing exciting growth and long-term prospects within our established practice, and we are looking for electrical engineers with transferable skills who are passionate about developing themselves and in meeting new challenges. We offer hybrid working with 2-3 days in the office. Occasional site visits may be necessary.

About the opportunity:

We are looking to recruit and develop career minded people to bolster our well-established long term and growing multi-discipline engineering delivery capability to meet opportunities in the nuclear and defence industries. Our projects include developing solutions in highly regulated environments, in support of air, land and sea defence establishments, the UK nuclear submarine fleet, and both existing and new build nuclear power stations.

You will preferably have experience of working in the nuclear and/or defence industries, but also those with relevant industrial design experience looking to work in a technically challenging environment are welcome to apply.

  • Provide support to Software, C&I and System Safety Engineers for the development and testing of code migration & dynamic model/simulation environments.

  • Electrical system design, commissioning and testing. Power distribution, Panel/motor/cable sizing, layouts and supporting calculations.

  • Design, configuration, implementation and testing of SCADA systems.

  • Understanding of fault analysis and reliability assessments using recognised techniques including FMEA, FTA, HAZID, HAZOP.

  • Develop production/checking of design basis documents, input to P&ID's and preparation of SIDD.

  • Review, modify and configure instrumentation design.

  • Undertaking of SIL assessments in accordance with EN 61508.

  • Carry out site surveys of plant and equipment and document the results.

  • Managing and attending SHE reviews under CDM Regulations 2015.

Here’s what you’ll need :

  • HNC HND or Degree in a relevant engineering discipline.

  • Ideally Membership of an appropriate Institute.

  • A comprehensive knowledge of the IET Wiring Regulations BS 7671

  • Knowledge and experience of a broad range of C&I equipment and its application in both conventional and safety related applications.

  • Experience working in a highly regulated industry.

  • You must be a UK National and able/willing to obtain SC level security clearance, which includes resident in the UK for the preceding 5 years
