For Abbott Point of Care, we are recruiting an Account Manager to cover Brussels, Wallonia and Luxembourg.

The role of the Account Manager is to ensure Abbott Afinion 2 POC analyser (with its parameters CRP, HbA1c, Lipids & ACR) leads in the move toward POC within both a primary and secondary care setting. This will require managing and influencing a wide variety of stakeholders and pathways.

An entrepreneurial and high calibre self-starter with a proven track record and a consistent high achiever in the Healthcare sales arena. The role will contribute to Abbott Rapid & Molecular Diagnostics growth and development. This will involve researching, identifying, assimilating and prioritising key opportunities within a region.

The role focusses on developing key accounts for Abbott’s products and services in partnership with other business functions. You will implement national strategies for new and existing products and services, including mapping out and building stakeholder relationships. This requires the ability to ‘sell’ all of the company’s products and services across Primary & Secondary Care sectors, including the central laboratory.

The role is expected to lead and initiate projects or work as part of a project team as required, demonstrate excellent business acumen and strive to meet and exceed agreed financial and strategic objectives.

In summary, the Account Manager is responsible for achieving sales objectives within a specified geographic sector and actively contribute to the Company’s growth. The role is responsible for promoting our diagnostic product ranges in the context of a policy defined by Sales Management by adopting an approach based on the sale of solutions.

Role and Responsibilities

  • Development of markets and customers, achieving sales targets, providing general customer service in the various areas of responsibility.

  • Responsibility for the development and execution of the full Abbott Rapid & Molecular Diagnostics product portfolio within the French speaking part of Belgium, at least partly covering Brussels.

  • Ability to sell products in various market segments, to various types of customers (public, private) and environments (emergency services, laboratories, paediatrics, economic departments), etc.

  • Develop and maintain sales in the Account Manager’s territory. Manage his/her own portfolio. Achieve sales targets by controlling expenditures and sales margins.

  • Maintain a high level of personal knowledge as regards applications and technologies related to products, participate in congresses and customer presentations.

  • Remain attentive to customer needs and problems and take the necessary steps to respond to or solve them.

  • Act as an essential communication relay for the tracking of competition, the detection of new opportunities and the development of our market. Supply data for the customer database and submit sales reports and any other information required by management.

  • Responsible for enhancing the Company’s image within his/her territory.

  • Ability to articulate issues and business opportunities with relevant customers to secure long term strategic business opportunities

Requirements

Education & Experience

  • Technical/scientific education in biochemistry, biotechnology, immunology, haematology or equivalent.

  • Experience with medical analysis laboratories and the hospital environment in relation to one of the therapeutic areas of our products.

  • Previous customer service experience in the healthcare industry preferred.

  • Consistent track record of achieving profitable growth.

  • Advanced Excel and PowerPoint skills.

  • Training and/or good sales experience in the biomedical, pharmaceutical or biotechnologies sector.

  • Excellent relationship capabilities to communicate with our customers in particular and, more widely, with a wide range of contacts.

  • Enthusiasm for sales.

  • Ability to listen / Good communication skills.

  • Enterprising, curious, spirit of initiative, persevering, autonomous, agile mind.

  • Rigorous, with the ability to analyse.

  • Knowledge of office automation and IT tools (CRM, Microsoft Office Pack, etc) and experience in CRM systems.

  • Fluent English/French, both written and verbal is essential.

  • Fluent Dutch, both written and verbal is a preference.

This is a field-based role and frequent travel in the region is anticipated.
